THE KATRINA TRILOGY

The Katrina Holocaust
Ó Bidelia 2005

Broken, twisted, and swept away,
lives and limbs are lost in fray.
The raging winds and pelting rain,
~the surge and fury of the hurricane,
are forces stronger than those of Man,
as waters flood the southern land.

I pray for those who’ve lost it all,
~who wander aimless in spiraled fall.
May all those spared, lend helping hands,
to southern friends on sinking sands,
,
that they might build what they have lost,
in this Katrina holocaust.

Raining Tears
Ó Bidelia 2005

The sky has fallen and waters rise,
as hopes sink with the land.
No man should be an island,
so around each, let us stand.

Arms reach out for loved ones,
but no longer are they there.
With loss of home and family,
lone hearts fill with despair.

Death and blind destruction,
came to those in her path.
New horrors come to light each day,
in Katrina's aftermath.

There is no consolation,
that could wipe away such pain.
For those who lost everything,
sad tears fall down like rain.

Katrina's Fury
Ó Bidelia 2005

Brooding clouds hung low in sky,
and were rushing fast to shore.
There were no silver linings,
as torrential rains did pour.

Stormy waters roiled and churned,
and soon did flood the land.
The carnage that lay in the wake,
was beyond Man’s understand.

Screaming winds from Dante’s Hell,
‘caused folks to flee and scurry.
They sought out havens in which to hide,
from Katrina’s raging fury.

Rushing waters staked their claims,
to lands not rightly theirs.
All was lost in this deluge,
amid the anguished prayers.

In the calm of the aftermath,
the silence was foreboding.
Debris and bodies floated by,
with morale and hope eroding.

The losses were far greater,
than one could comprehend.
And then there'd be the coping,
with what lay ‘round the bend.

Like the rising of the Phoenix,
brave hearts will conquer all.
They’ll put their lives in order,
and once again stand tall.

There is joy...
Ó Bidelia 2005

There is joy in spotting first robin of spring,
There is joy in hearing a meadowlark sing.

There is joy in seeing the sun rise in morn,
There is joy in beholding a babe as it's born.

There is joy in lying in a meadow of clover,
There is joy in the warm kiss of sunshine all over.

There is joy in loving and being loved in return,
There is joy in receiving for what one does yearn.

There is joy in the blooming of flowers in May,
There is joy in accepting what might come your way.

There is joy in knowing that you are doing your best,
There is joy in living with passion and zest.

There is joy when a child holds on to your hand,
There is joy in building tall castles of sand.

There is joy in snuggling on a cold winter’s night,
There is joy in doing what you know is right.

There is joy in the company of family and friends,
There is joy in accepting what lies around bends.

There is joy in the beauty of Nature’s surround,
There is joy in the blessings that Our Father rains down.

There is joy in the sharing of each heart and soul,
There is joy in the chiming as church bells toll.

There is joy in the changing of every season,
There is joy in living with heart, soul and reason.

There is joy in the going as river is flowing,
There is joy in trusting your faith and your knowing.

There is joy in viewing a bright rainbow in sky.
There is joy in watching a hawk circling high.

There is joy to be had. Open eyes and you’ll see.
There is joy in abundance all around you and me.

Where Spirit Sings

Ó Bidelia 2005

Why have you doubted self,

When God has blessed you so?

He gifted you with pure of heart,

And bright eternal soul.

Forever you will be a spoke,

In the Universal Wheel.

~A frame within the film of life,

And of Akashic reel.

You’ve glowed with an inner Light,

That you never seemed to see.

Yet others saw your sacredness,

~And one of them is me.

Throughout the years I've known you,

You’ve given from your heart.

Embracing all whom you have met,

~You never stood apart.

The time has come for you to fly,

And to use your angel wings.

Rise up from your earth-bound self,

To sky where Spirit sings.

Light Spirit

Ó Bidelia 2005

I’m a Light spirit who goes with the Flow,

I carry sunbeams wherever I go.

They brighten even the dreariest day,

And Light-en my Path as I wend my way.

Star dust I gather on star-studded nights,

To sprinkle children with wee fairy lights.

The shimmering twinkles bring pleasant dreams,

Of fantasy worlds and cookies 'n creams.

Moonbeams I carry in an indigo jar,

~Light from the Man-in-the-Moon up afar.

I cast its magic o’er babes as they sleep,

In the loving arms of God’s angel keep.

Dewdrops I gather from flowers each morn,

And place them on lips of each newly born.

With blessings of love as they lie in repose,

I mist them with essence of pink garden rose.

Raindrops I catch in gentle spring shower,

To quench the thirst of mid-summer flower.

Breezes that blow in the months of June,

I save and transform into lullaby tune.

On unicorn white with magical wings,

I travel the world as a bluebird sings,

Sweet songs for the Spirit that dwells within me,

As I follow Light rainbows foreverly.

I’m a Light spirit who goes with the Flow,

I carry sunbeams wherever I go.

They brighten even the dreariest day,

And Light-en my Path as I wend my way.

Cloud Gazing

Ó Bidelia 2005

My gazing eyes look to heavenly skies,

And are awed by the bright angel blue.

Dabbles of stratus and cirrus clouds,

And fluffy, white cumulus too.

Swirling, twirling, into magical forms,

They stir my imagination.

~ Castles and dragons, and unicorns,

Are all of my mind’s creation.

Giving Thanks
Ó Bidelia 2005

My life is full of miracles,
They range from great to small.
But a miracle is a miracle,
And I marvel at them all.

Some seem insignificant,
But I'm thankful just the same,
For often they are greater than,
The box in which they came.

Judge not the book by cover,
It measures not the words.
It cannot differentiate,
The whey from the curds.

So, keep your mind unveiled,
Open eyes and truly see.
The miracles all around you,
Then give thanks to Glory Be.
